Our second son, Zeke, was born on April 7th, 2026. We love him so, so much! I'm so excited to share a little bit about his birth and what life has been like since our family's new addition!

April 6th, 2026 . . .

2:00 PM - I had an appointment with my OB. I asked her to do an exam because I could tell that my body had been working very hard for the past couple of weeks. She said I was 3cm dilated and 50% effaced. We did a membrane sweep to see if it would kickstart things . . .

6:40 PM - I woke up from a nap with fairly intense contractions, they quickly got closer together, and I had a feeling we needed to leave in a hurry. I told gabe that i needed him, and I called my sister to watch our firstborn, leo, until my mom could get there.

8:00 PM - We arrived at the hospital. At this point, my contractions were about 3 minutes apart.

9:00 PM- After being checked in and getting changed, we did another exam to see how I was progressing. I was 4.5cm and 90% effaced!

10:30 PM- continued steady contractions getting more intense. We did another exam - 7cm and 100% Effaced!

1:00  AM - Transition went smoothly, and I was finally at 9cm and 100%. My water broke It was almost time to push! I just needed to wait until my body felt the urge . . .

2:12 AM - Zeke was born after 55 minutes of pushing! We nicknamed him our "chunky monky" because his cheeks were so chunky when he came out! He was also significantly bigger than his older brother was.

Highlights & Challenges -

I was so glad when I realized that it was finally the real deal. After weeks of my body going through inconsistent contractions, bouts of sweating and hot flashes, and exhaustion + discomfort, I was happy to know that it was FINALLY time to meet our boy! I was able to get through this labor with no pain meds/epidural, which was something I was really excited about. I had an epidural during Leo's birth, and it was something that was super helpful at that time. However, a more natural birth was something that I really wanted to experience as well, so I was glad that I was able to experience that. On the flip side, that's where the most challenging parts came into play. My epidural with Leo was so nice because I could feel contractions without the pain, and feel like I had some control. However, this natural birth was a completely different experience. The whole experience leading up to pushing went more smoothly because my labor was more spontaneous this time, but pushing was a challenge that required a lot of mental and physical grit. The woman who was delivering said that I had to adjust and learn how to push through the pain, and once I figured out how to do that using the right muscles, things progressed much more quickly. The hardest part was the "Ring of Fire" as they call it, because it lasted for about 20 minutes straight! Zeke crowned, but right as he did, my contractions stopped and he just stayed there. That was pretty rough. But it was all worth it to meet our boy!

I've been asked if I would birth without medicating again, and I'd like to say that I would. I just hope the "Ring of Fire" doesn't last quite so long next time!

Things that Made Zeke's Photos Special

His Baby Blanket

Each of my babies get a baby blanket made with love from me. I wanted to incorporate Zeke's blanket into his photos! I hope it keeps him cozy and warm growing up, and that he treasures it!

His Monkey

Many parents choose an animal to make their baby's theme animal. For Zeke, I picked a monkey. Turned out to be the perfect animal for him because we ended up calling him our "chunky monkey" when he was born!

Him!

These photos are special to me because they are of my boy! Really, how much more can I say about that? I just love our little guy!

Home Life - A Family of Four

Being home has been wonderful. We have had such great support and blessings from friends, our church, and our family. Gabe has 2 weeks of paternity leave, and he has been so helpful as he has been home.  Leo loves his little brother, and is always kissing him and gently rubbing his head and grabbing his hands. I think it's safe to say that our boys will be best of buds! I am excited to start getting into a routine around the house, and to see the relationships and family dynamic continue to grow!

Thanks for reading! Lots of love!
